Warehouse Sprinkler Main Break

Details

A tenant arrived in the morning to find water gushing out of their building. A sprinkler main had broken before it reached the in-line monitor, so no alarms went off. The water filled the building, lifting the floor slab up to 6 inches and filling their office/warehouse with water and sediment. Although the slab had mostly dropped back into place, it was unclear if the slab capacity was also back to normal.

We worked with a geotechnical engineer and a specialized testing lab to determine if the subsurface soil was properly supporting the slab. It was determined that the proper support was not provided in many areas and replacement of portions of the slab was recommended. The work was performed, and the lease space was restored to its original condition.
