Retail Shop

Details

When a severe snowstorm hit, TSA personnel performed an investigation of damage to a single-story retail shop. The masonry and steel structure suffered severe damage including bowing of the roof framing and partial collapse of the ceiling, which alerted the occupants to the problem with the building structure. Since no drawings were available, TSA personnel performed field measurements of the existing framing. Using the field-verified dimensions, the existing framing was analyzed. It was determined that the structure had less than 1/3 of the required capacity in accordance with the building code.

After completing the investigation, the client subsequently had TSA perform a repair design that included removal and replacement of the existing roof structure with a new roof structure. TSA performed field work during construction.
