When fire struck a single story office / warehouse facility, Nelson Jones was contacted to determine the extent and severity of distress, then design the repair. TSA discovered damage to the steel structure, metal roof deck, and concrete walls. In this case, the steel structure was supported by the concrete walls, and the fire caused failure of the concrete at the points of support due to extreme thermal gradients. The repair consisted of replacing damaged steel components, repairs to the damaged concrete, and reinforcing of the support area of the structure on the concrete walls to limit the potential for failure of the concrete repairs.
