We were contacted by a client that wanted to install a high-density filing system. A structural analysis was performed to determine the capacity of the existing structure for the addition of a high-density filing system. Analysis showed that although much of the structure had sufficient capacity to support the proposed loads, the floor was deficient. By placing additional beams under the slab, the slab deficiency was addressed and a different filing system was selected to address some potential floor deflection issues. We prepared construction documents for the reinforcement of the floor and performed construction administration services.
