Church Roof - Wind Damage

Chalmette, Louisiana

Details

This standing seam metal roof had only been on a few weeks when the eave end became detached and got bent up during a thunderstorm. The roof had recently been replaced due to it being damaged during Hurricane Ida. The opened roof caused massive amounts of water intrusion into the building.

While the thunderstorm was intense the roof should have been able to withstand the storm. TSA's thorough investigation found a major construction defect. The contractor did not install hold-down clips at many of the purlins at and near the eaves.
